National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs

Discover the Benefits of NAC Accreditation - Become a NAC Validator!

The National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs (NAC) values the contribution that validators provide to the accreditation process.  Trained early care and education professionals conduct on-site classroom observations and review documentation in order to validate a program’s reporting on NAC criteria.  NAC validators work within their own state or region. Out-of-state travel is optional.

NAC Validators receive:

    • Thorough training;
    • Honorarium for each day of a validation visit;
    • All expenses associated with the validation visit reimbursed;
    • Travel and accommodations coordinated by NAC staff; and
    • Opportunities to network with other NAC Validators.

Qualifications

A NAC Validator must meet the following requirements:

    • Hold a BA/BS in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or a closely related field; an Associates Degree with experience commensurate with a four-year degree may be considered;
    • Demonstrate knowledge of optimal child development practices;
    • Have practical experience in the field of early care and education;
    • Have excellent written and oral communication skills; and
    • Demonstrate keen observation skills.

Application Process

Prospective validators must submit a formal application, resume, and support documentation to the NAC office.  Three (3) reference letters attesting to applicant’s professional experience and qualifications must be submitted along with a detailed summary of why you wish to serve as a NAC validator.

Validator Training

Validator training is offered several times each year in various locations throughout the United States.  A Calendar of Events is available on the NACCP homepage.  Applicants must complete all steps of the application process and receive confirmation from the NAC office before registering for Validator Training.

Assignment

To eliminate any conflict of interest in the validation process, a validator is not assigned to visit a program site if any of the following conflicts are present:

    • Has been previously employed with the program;
    • Has sought employment with the program;
    • Has a child/grandchild enrolled or previously enrolled in the program;
    • Serves on an advisory board of the program;
    • Is in direct competition with the program; or
    • Is an employee of any program that provides or administers technical assistance or funding to the program
