Mary Hornbeck began her career in early care and education over 20 years ago when, at the age of 21, she became the owner of Special Beginnings Early Learning Center. Since that time, she has expanded her business five times and now operates four programs that serve over 250 families. As Executive Director, Mary leads a 8-member management team and 70 staff members. Mary holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Life from the University of Kansas. Mary is also a member of the Kansas Women’s Business Center and the National Federation of Independent Businesses. Mary has written and implemented staff and parent policy handbooks, and developmental assessments for young children. She is active in her community as a trainer and as an advocate for quality care and education of young children and for women business owners. In 2007 she was honored in Kansas City as one of 25 Women Who Mean Business by the Kansas City Business Journal.

Kathie Boe is the Sr. Director of Quality and Accreditation for Knowledge Universe. Kathie brings to the position more than 30 years of experience with programs for young children including work as a teacher, center director, district manager and Sr. Director of Program Training. Kathie is trained as a Validator for the National Accreditation Commission. She also served five years as Secretary/Treasurer for Minnesota Child Care Association. Kathie is a frequent speaker at both regional and national conferences on the topics of early childhood education, team building, administration and staff development. Lori Buxton has been involved in early childhood education since 1995. She has served children and their families on many levels, including children’s pastor, classroom teacher, program director and child care administrator. Lori is a dynamic training consultant who encourages and equips, challenges and inspires, and whose heart is deeply committed to serving those who in turn serve families in early education. Lori is the Executive Associate of PROEEA, Professional Early Education Associates, Inc. She is the founder of the Gulf Coast Director’s Network and has served on the conference committee for several years for the Association for Early Learning Leaders.

Sally began her career as an Occupational Specialist/Career Counselor. Because of her strong training in team building, motivation and marketing, she utilized these skills to open Circle C Ranch Academy in 1986. Circle C serves the Tampa, FL area as a preschool, child care center and summer camp. Circle C Ranch Academy has achieved accreditation through the National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs. Sally is a strong advocate for staff development and encourages each of her staff members to achieve their CDA certification or enroll in college courses. The staff of Circle C has trained with the High Scope Curriculum and Myers-Briggs Personality Profile System. Sally has worked to form Megan's Circle of Hope, a 501(C)3 organization to serve children with special needs. Dr. Leighan Rinker has served in the early childhood field for over 30 years as a teacher, program founder/owner/operator, author, presenter, professor and child advocate. Since 1984 she has been the director of Beginnings of Palm Beach Cty which has been accredited by multiple accrediting entities since 1985. Dr. Rinker received her Masters in ECE as well as her specialist and doctorate degrees in Educational Leadership and Administration from Florida Atlantic University. She was a professor at FAU and Palm Beach Atlantic University, teaching undergrads, graduate students and early childhood directors. She wrote and taught practitioners the foundational level and advanced level director's credential courses. Dr. Rinker is co-chair of the Council for the National Accreditation Commission.

Bob has worked as a preschool teacher, long-time child care director, graduate school teacher, children's museum director, and ECE management consultant and trainer and National Director of Easter Seals Children's Services. Currently, he serves on the Association Board of Directors and as the Board President of the Early Care and Education Consortium. With over 20 years industry experience, he has a broad background in risk management. Michael, a 1984 graduate of Virginia Tech, holds certifications as an Associate in Risk Management and a Senior Claim Law Associate. He also holds certifications as a Certified Playground Safety Inspector, Child Passenger Safety Technician and is a certified Emergency Medical Technician. Michael has two children.
